Social Media Campaign

The team at Whitney Donut & Sandwich Shop needed to redesign their social media presence so they can stay engaged with their customers and attract new ones, while staying true to their current brand and updating their social media pages.

In this redesign updated Instagram ads, email blasts and Instagram posts were created to aid in updating their social platforms. I reimagined their current typography and created new designs that created a new brand image that would have a positive impact on their business.

Research

Research is a crucial first step when starting any design. It is important to look at what the brand has already established to stay consistent with brand images, as well as see the areas that are lacking and how they can be improved. I started by looking at what current platforms Whitney Donut uses and making notes of what things needed to be added. 

They do have a website and Facebook, but not and Instagram page, which is a big platform they are missing out on. The Facebook page as well is lacking excitement. Most posts are long and wordy, and while the information most of the time is necessary it can get redundant, so those are some things that needed updating.

Color & Type Studies

Color is essential to a brand image. Many popular brands can be recognized just by their colors. Whitney Donut has been in business for 53 years now, first established by a husband and wife, who have now passed the business onto their daughter, this family feel is very evident and needs to be showcased through their color scheme. 

The colors and typefaces used were to establish a vintage yet nostalgic theme. This is a family business and it is important to make customers feel as they are part of the Whitney Donut family as well.

Impact

I learned the importance of social media campaigns. These campaigns can engage with current customers and attract new ones. Social media platforms are very wide spread and is a great way for businesses to connect with people beyond just inside their establishment. I also learned that having a cohesive look across all platforms and posts makes a brand stand out and look more professional. I used my skills in typography and knowledge of color studies to create these Instagram ads, and email blasts, in a style that would make consumers feel welcomed and want to stop by Whitney Donut & Sandwich Shop.
